Hi i have had my Vitara 1.6 16valve Auto LWB for about 5 years now and about a month ago this problem started to happen. The problem i have got is the car will start on a cold engine and will drive very well. It also will starts first time but as soon as the engine get warm or you need to start it after stopping it won`t start. I need to wait until the engine as cooled down and then it will start again. Just on Sunday it broke down and won`t start. It coughs and splutters and back fires and smells very strong of fuel, so bad that it back fired and riped my brand new exhaust pipe wide open. I have notice that i have been using alot of fuel just lately. I have changed all the leads, spark plugs, new rotary arm and distributor, coil, fuel fillter and air fillter.I have done a self diagnosis across terminals 2 and 3 but it always comes back as the normal code. Can anyone out there please give me some idea on what is my problem and what i need to get as this is driving me mad. Many many thanks G |

it sounds like the carb, you could rebuild/clean it or upgrade it. it sounds though the auto choke is staying on and flooding the engine while you are trying to start it when its warm. |

place an EFI block on there and your good to go (money permitting). Was having numerous problems with G16A cab similar to yours. |
