I have just replaced my o/s front wisbone on my Grand Vitara as the ball joint is worn and is not replaceable although the rubber bushes are

I had to replace it with a second hand one from the breakers as the motor factors dont list it and a new one from suzuki plus the bushes is £295.61

Im thinking of cutting off the old ball joint and weld/fabricate a mount to fit an earlier vitara ball joint which has three fixing bolts so the balljoint would then be replaceable

Im not sure if the old vitara ball joint will fit in the tapered seat on the grand vitara nor whether this ball joint is up to the job maybe a different one would be better

Any feedback would be appreciated

Someone out there must of already done something like this

dont even try it.

the weld will be too weak to hold the impacts of bumps and potholes....

youll be running the risk of losing the corner one day while driving normally.

ive got a feeling messing with a wishbone that takes a daily pounding is not a good idea.... you cant wear out those ball joints all that often and when they do just get another from the breaker! Most likely much easier AND safer which should be more important than cash...
