hi all
i orignally posted this in the wrong section so have now reposted it here...sorry about that.
hi
i have a standard sad looking sj samurai, complete with broken rear prop-shaft...the reason its been laid up for around 3 yrs and through various other reasons.
anyway im not getting any younger and want to now get to grips with the old beast.
so what do i want from my jeep???
im after something thats very cheap to run and yet still fun to drive and can still handle a highway cruise of 250 miles wqithout taking all day to get there...is that possible with a engine conversion? if so what would be the best engine to go for to suit my needs...been reading up on the 1600 8v and this seems a good option other then it will take me into a dearer road tax bracket but i would be willing to balance this against a worth while mpg improvement.
i have plenty more design goals but rather then do one massive post that reads longer then war a peace book ill do it in sections.
so any surgestions regarding a power plant transplant that will meet my needs and not be rocket science to do or be mega expensive...any help, ideas, views would be very much appricated.
also on another note if anyone has a spare rear uj/driveshaft for a 93 samurai going cheap i would be greatful so i can at least get it back on the road for now!!!
all the best
smithie
