Hi
I'm kind of stuck here. My '87 Samurai won't turn over. There's plenty of juice in the battery, I turn the key on and the lights come on on the dash just like usual.
I push the clutch in, turn the key to crank it and the engine won't turn over.
I looked at the starter, the large wire going to it from the battery has juice. There is a single wire connection underneath the large wire. I ran a wire from the battery to the single wire to try to jump the solenoid to see if it would crank but no matter where I connect my jumper wire, nothing happens except a couple of sparks.
Can anyone please tell me exactly where I should run the jumper wire to try to get the solenoid to fire and turn over the starter?
Additionally, under the dash there is a two-wire connector that runs over by the pivot from the clutch pedal. That connector is disconnected but there's nothing anywhere near it to connect it to ! Where is it supposed to go ? I would assume that it is there so you have to push the clutch in to complete the circuit to start the Samurai.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much,
Dave |

Okay. So after jumping the solenoid from the hot wire from the battery, sometimes the starter will spin. I was able to get it started this way.
Now, after cranking it and starting it 5 times, it won't turn over anymore.
I assume this means the solenoid is shot ? |
