I've fitted an SU carb to mine and so has quite a lot of other people. The SU is a great conversion and well tried and tested. I don't know too much about the Webber, it may be better than the SU for all I know. I expect someone who knows more will give you some info on them at some point.
I know you asked about the Webber & I'm talking about a different carburetter, but just thought it worth mentioning  Wink

the webber will give more power but will suffer on steep inclines so its not too good for off-roading.

it might be what youre looking for on the road tho?

go for the SU. i've just picked my sammy up from mudsport after havin an su fitted. different motor, best mod i've done so far. you'll get out with an hf 44, (what i've used) but if ya can hold off for an hif 44, do. fleabay is comin down with su's, and minisport.com will suply all the service parts at good money. (and OE). i'll up a pic at some point today.

Looks good Phil.
My Samurai was virtually undriveable before I swapped to the SU. I fitted the HIF44, I'm not sure what difference there is between the two.
Just got to sort out a snorkel now.

only one difference between the 2.  HF horizontal float.  HIF horizontal integral float. if ya look at the pics of mine, the float bowl is a seperate unit, yours is part of the main carb body. i was struggleing to get 50mph on the motorway with the standard carb (secondary choke jet blocked solid) got the su fitted and it's now pullin 60-65 in 3rd. well pleased.
as for yer snorkle, it looks like the flexi pipe from the carb to the filter will clip on to your snorkle no worries, all ya need is a hole cut in the wing and a trip to b&q for some waste pipe and bends.

Phil what have you done about an airfilter?
I was considering doing what you said and running some waste pipe through the wing to that flexi pipe, but then I realised that I wouldn't have an airfilter.

i have one of the cowled ripspeed filters on the top of the snorkle, you could use the filter your running now, but ya have to keep them well oiled so your not drawing rain. the cowls cut that prob out. i'll do the usual, and up a couple of pics of the filter i'm running. think it was around £26-£28 from halfords. you do get a fair amount of induction noise just above your head if it's a soft top.

Cool, I'll look forward to the pictures.
Is it something like the one in this post?

as far as i know the ones in the linked post are more of a pre filter, landies runnin those still have the standard air box under the bonnet.
here's a couple of pics from mine. ripspeed hiflow filter with no standard air box needed. i just checked halfords site, there has been an increase in price since i got mine. now £34.99.

these are listed as ripspeed carbon air filter. they have a couple of different cowled filters, but i think this type looks the best and are a bit more compact.
