|
|
Hi
Am new on the site
Just wondering if any of you can help!!
I brought a Suzuki Vitara convertible fatboy over the weekend.. The jeep run's brilliantly in town, but if you take it on the Motorway and doing over 50mph ever so often it pulls to the left. A few colleagues of mine are saying that its the tyres width which are causing the problem, going into the rut which lorries have caused over time! Will this be correct?
The width of the tyres are 265 all round...
thanks

im guessing so, as mine still does the same at speed I have a'94 fatboy hardtop
haven't had suitable chance to look under it to see if there is any other likely cause other than the tyres. _________________ - Nick |

ye mines the same, anything under 50mph it is solid and doesn't pull at all, but anything over it will just do it every so often. _________________ - Nick |

hey bud
unlock releases the hub to take it out of 4wd
this will reduce your tyre wear on the front and improve your fuel economy.
just make sure you have the t/fer box in 2wd _________________ the car in front is a toyota...

Cheers for that..
Do anyone else know if the pulling is common at over 50mph with the wider tyres? |

just seems to happen on the motorways...
i have check the tyre pressure last night and the passenger side is low 31 on front and 28 on the rear. My thoery is will it be the convertible roof that is causing it to pull and sway! Cos the wind is pushing on the sides? it sometimes feel like am i acurplaning on the surface of the road, especially when its wet!
The reason am thinking its the roof is....When i brough it on sunday i drove it to derby and back on the motorway with the roof down and there seems to be no problem. But for the past few days the roof has been up, and thats when i notice these things!! |

is it sealing properly above the windscreen?
if not, it might be acting like a parachute
also, the ruts are prob not helping.
try an experiment with the roof up and down and see what happens? _________________ the car in front is a toyota...

vitara's with massively wide tyre have a tendancy to tramline, will happen much more on motorways.
what happens is your tyres get into the shallow grooves in the road left by the big heavy vehicles and they will try to stay in them. this is a very common problem for anyone who has ever had a fatboy.
the sticker inside my door says 23psi all round, although I run them a little harder for the road (25-30) then drop them to about 18-20 when off road |
