My 2005 2.5V6 GV is fitted with OE 235/60/16 Bridgestone Dueler H/T 687 tyres on 16x7 rims. These have performed as expected in all terrains/conditions up until until the recent change in the weather The problem - not much grip in the snow! Can anyone recommend a good all round alternative? Or alternatively a good winter/snow tyre to fit on a 2nd set of wheels for winter running? Is there any mileage in fitting a smaller dia rim / higher ratio tyre combination to increase options available. (Some 1.6 GV models fitted with 15" wheels). Don't want to go too overboard in increased tyre size to upset speedo calibration - max say 70% ratio on 15".

If it's purely for road use then I would suggest just checking the tread depth on the tyres you have, even the best tyres are useless when they get 3mm or less, why the min is 1.6 is beyond me, even water is slippy that low.

I use (on 17s) Kumho Road Venture APT tyres (which I was told were totally rubbish) and they have been excellent in the snow and ice.
