Hey everyone, i have just done a 1989 vitara 1.6 8v engine conversion into an old 1984 sj410 keeping all of the original 410 wiring and it turns over but doesnt seem to be sparking. The vit dizzy is electronic and the 410 was originaly wired for th points dizzy. Ive been told i need to just find a points dizzy that fits in the vit motor but does anybody hav any usefull suggestions on which dizzy i can fit in or another solution? |

Well ive heard that over in the US all the 1.6 vits are fuel injected, where as mine over here isnt!!
I pulled the vit motor out of a Samurai but now that Samurai has been picked up and crushed.. Didnt actually think of taking out the wires
Do you know where would be the best place for me to order a new vitara or samurai harness? |

all the uk vits are fuel injected.
it looks like a carb on the early models but its actually a single point injection system...
have you checked you have the dizzy is set up right?
try switching the leads 180 degrees and turning the key, thats the problem i had when i rebuilt my sj engine. i followed the haynes manual and the genuine zook dealership manual and they both got it wrong (or maybe i was looking at something wrong?) and when i switched the leads, it fired up immediately |
