Hi, how often do i need to change the timing belt on my vitara 1.6 st 1997. the guy i bought it from said every 30,000km but i've never changed a timing belt on any car i've knowen (owned by parents etc.) and this seems very often.

most engines are 50-60,000 mile intervals.

i do mine as soon as i get the vehicle/engine, for peace of mind.

better safe than sorry, a snapped belt can be devastating  Wink
