I just acquired a 1991 Samurai that has a 1.6 litre engine installed.  The previous owner stated it was having ignition problems and had trouble with a local mechanic who was working on it.  He towed it home and parked it for 2 years until I picked it up.  I trailered it home only to find out that the coil is missing (likely with the mechanic).  I would like to get a new coil, but don't know if I should get one for a 1991 Samurai or one that matches the engine.  I can't find the engine serial number to determine what year it is or where it came from (Suzuki Sidekick or Geo Tracker).  I also read on another website that the computer has to match the coil and the distributor, and a 1.6 litre engine should use the old 1.3 litre distributor.
Can anyone help me determine how to check which coil to purchase so I can get this unit running.  ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
