Help!
I can only get 2nd, 4th and reverse on the gearbox of my K reg Vitara 1.6.
I have been told that as these are all down gears, it may be a problem with the selector.
Could this be right or am I looking to have to replace the whole box!
I have the use of the 4wd transfer box as I have tried it an it worked ok.
Has anyone got any idea's at all please?
All help will be appreciated!
Where would the best place be to find a exploded picture of my gearbox on line!
If there is one!
Ta! |

Almost certainly I'd say!
Sorry mate I don't know alot about gearboxes but a friend had a similar problem on his car (vectra) and it was a "bent selector fork"? I know his local garage was able to fix it for a reasonable price.
Do you have a local garage (or better still a gearbox specialist) who's brains you could pick? Costs nowt to ask a question...
At the end of the day a 2nd hand gearbox for a Vit ain't gonna cost much and you could probably change it yourself if you're reasonably handy with the spanners. _________________

Thanks for that, I have been told that a gearbox can be had for about £50, so it might be easier to just replace it I spos.
There is a guy from Cardiff on swapz that has one for deal so I offered him £50 cash for it but he aint replied yet!
Always the same aint it, never one around when you want one, lol.
If it was an SJ i would be able to pick one up easy as pie!
Any idea what size tyre will fit on a standard Vit, it has 8x15 wheels on it and I need a bit of tread for rough. |

Hi rock !
I have a manual k reg vit that i am taking apart for the engine, it has a good gearbox, but am in sussex, so maybe a bit too far for ya.
If you need a box in a week or so, it should be out by then.
I know a pallet delivered anywhere in mainland uk will be £80, so would make it a dear option.
