When I test drove my Sammy it ran very well but had a leaky-noisy muffler.  After replacing the muffler I heard ticking in the head.  I reset the tappets and the noise persists.  Might the noise be created by the fuel pump rod wich is driven by the camshaft?  It's a 1986 with 98,000 miles.  Two of my Sammy owner friends tell me to drive it without worry...old Samurais typically make ticking noises in the head... a head overhaul is required to solve the noise problem.  I'd appreciate any advice n this matter.  By the way, I can keep up with my Jeep owner frends wherever we go in the Arizona Sonoran desert.
