I wrecked my rear diff today on a pay & play at woodlands it still drives front wheel drive in 4WD but makes an awful crunching sound, does anyone know if the diffs are the same in both axles as the ratio's are surely the same so even if the diff housings are diff-erent lol can I change the gubbins inside.
As you may have guessed I have a spare front axle but not the rear, always the way. Evil or Very Mad

I finally got round to fixing this today, the answer to my own question is No the diffs are not the same but the housings are as are the ratio's the difference is in the half shafts being smaller on the front than the rear so I made 1 out of the 2 using the front housing with the rears centre hub with the fronts crown wheel and it worked a treat. It had failed due to mud/water ingress killing the shaft bearings in the housing and then the prop and flange dropped dropping all the oil and allowing the rollers to escape and get mashed in the crown wheel, needless to say being parked outside with the internals exposed to the elements and the housing full of mud water & rollers it was a right mess. i just need some rear wheel bearings now
