I know people have done it but it doesnt seem worth the effort to me. The steering is hardly heavy. I know the box can be sloppy to say the least, but even with bigger tyres their not a heavy car to drive |

Mine is and always has been for all the 21 years but then I have always had the big wheels and tyres. And when I put on a 13" s/wheel I couldn't hack it. |

13" wheel, That would do it
When I built my 4x4 polo I wanted a different steering wheel but didnt change it because of that.
I think the normal route for SJ power steering conversions is to use a Vitara power steering box but not to sure on the other parts you may need or if its a bolt on conversion.
What engine are you running I presume the pump would sap a little power |

I had all the bits lined up to come from the US then I twigged, left hand drive - doh. Yes it is Vitara parts. Ah yes the 12" s/wheel. Lasted about a day then got a 14" or so from Astrali made up ....... in about '89. Now I am playing with a standard wheel, the ex caused me to part company with my own standard s/wheel. _________________ Do it to them before they do it to you.
