Hi i have a 2004 grand vitara 2.5. i am try to wire the spotlights to the main beam so they come on with full beam and no separate switch.
Done this many times before but all the 3 wires to the head lamp are live all the while so how do i get around this?
I have the normal 4 post relay.
30 battery
85 earth
87  spots
leaving 86 to main beam
Any ideas please

Vitara, x90 and GV headlamps are always live, and are switched via the earth circuit.

So, identify the main beam earth connection, by seeing it go to earth potential when the main beam is switched on.  The wire colour shoudl be RED.  Connect that to 86.  Connect 85 to battery +.  Your connections to 30 and 87 are ok.
