I need some help.
My partner has a 1997 Suzui Vitara, 4 door, long wheel base.
It has been running fine until the other week where it made a noise and started being loud and was de-accelerating. He pulled over and it was idling fine. So then he switched off the engine and checked the oil and water in the car and everything looked fine. Then jumped back into the car and it wouldn't start. It was clicking and nothing happened.
Battery is fine. Car wouldn't jump start and wouldn't roll start. Was thinking its starter motor as what they thought was starter motor wasn't moving (appears now that it was the alternator that they where looking at)

I spoke to my mechanic and asked for advice and he told me that we should check that the bottom of the engine will turn. It wouldn't turn so we thought that the motor had seized.
Okay, plan B was to pull the old 1994 suzuki vitara apart and place part of that engine and part of the 1997 engine together to put into the car.
Pulled the starter motor off the 1997 vitara and placed the 1994 starter motor onto it and still wouldn't start, still made a clicking noise, however, the bottom of the motor is now turning.

Any advise?
