so my poor little sj engine has about bitten the dust now only managing 12.5mpg, I have decided to do the upgrade with a vitara 1.6 engine.

i have brought a conversion plate this has already arrived.
1.6 vitara engine ive already brought with out alternator and started motor
vitara power stearing box, pump, reservoir and pipes
and of course the samurai engine i already have with a dud alternator.

is there anything else i shall need??? i have read i can use the samurai starter motor and the alternator is this correct??

i would buy a new sj clutch, there not expensive and as the engine is out u might as well change it. you have to fit the sj flywheel and clutch kit to the vit engine, you can use the sj exhaust and  manifold, you can use some sj startermotors, you will have to alter the engine mounts, the wiring is pretty much the same, the fuel lines are the same, the clutch cable is the same. do you have any suspension lift  Very Happy

the wiring will be the same even though it is single point injection, as you have no lift kit you will have to fit the 413 sump to the 1.6 engine and modify the oil pick up pipe to fit the new sump.  Very Happy  hope this helps

i feel im getting some where now, ive sorted the fuel pipes and attached the electric fuel pump that has now developed a leak  Sad
what wire on the ignition should the pump go to?
she was making a horrible noise trying to start her up and then noticed i didnt have a skinny starter motor, now have one on its way. Laughing  Laughing

my last few issues are:
which wire on the ignition should the pump go to?
i need to sort out the leak at the pump or replace it
then possibly time the engine seen as its the 1.3 distributor on the 1.6 engine
