I have 2003 GV1600, this started to over heat on the M4 last week ... put heating on and temp dropped. stopped at a service station, water oil etc 100% let things coll down ... started off again same prob. so heater on again on a hot day!!!. later on turned heater off and temp remained the stable.

several days later did same. so removed thermostat to replace (and was given wrong one by car spares shop) so running without one.

Again it decided to overheat again doing 65-70 on an m-way without thermostat in !!! ... no air bubbles as heater works PHEW hot !!!

temp dropped to normal and after 20 mins turned off blower and temp remained good.

Now do you think it could be a blocked rad and water not flowing properly. as it should not over heat without a thermostat in it?

new rad or flush required?

whats best method of flushing out the rad?

Cheers in advance

david I have never had much success with flushing a radiator. The best solution if your sure its the rad, is change it before the head blows a gasket.
