my v6 has started to chatter a little bit.not all of the time, but its there.my understanding is this is an expensive job to have done.does any one know how long the engine may go on once the rattle starts?i know all are different but just a rough idea.thanks.

Perhaps the camshafts got a little oil-starved... I used Castrol Magnatec to quieten down my Nova as it sounded tappety and that done the trick. During looking for a solution to this sort of problem, a friend said I could get an engine quietner treatment... I found a few and after trying a SPX version and it not making a blind bit of difference, I deem these solutions a waste of money! I stand corrected but I found that these are no substitute for an oil change using good quality oil. Hope this helps but then sounds like you managed to solve the problem yourself!
