Hi everyone, I'm looking at buying a Vit. I was hoping one or more of the forum experts might be able to suggest what I should be looking out for when viewing a potential purchase of a Vit. Kind regards, Paul

Always check rear arches, and front footwells also behind the fro seats, always potential for rust there, never be afraid to get the carpet pulled up and have a good look, also do general checks, take oil filler cap off check for a creamy gunk under the cap, and take the oil dip stick out if that's got creamy stuff on it then its a strong indicator that the head gadget is gone, also check tops of the wheel arches at the from in the engine bay! Just be obsevant in general mate if you see something U don't like walk away or get the price down depending on if your willing to repair the problems good luck bud =] _________________ Sometimes i decide against inteligence and opt for something a bit more effective! |

That's ace many thanks for your assistance.
I am looking for an older 3 door petrol Vit.
To be honest I don't know if these vehicles have cam chain or cam belt. What kind of service intervals do the cam chain/belt have? For instance my present car has a 2.2 litre vauxhall engine with timing chain but the chain stretches over time meaning replacement at 100,000 miles. Maybe the same for a Vit?
I have read these engines need servicing ever 6,000 miles should I be walking away if the vehicle has gone 10,000 miles since the last oil change?
Are there any other engine or transmision issues I should be aware of?
Kind regards, Paul |
