Hey all,
I have those freewheeling hubs on the front of my Samurai.
When are they supposed to be in the"Free" position and when are they meant to be in the "locked" position ?

free is 2wd and locked is for 4wd
they are also known as manual hubs _________________ the car in front is a toyota...
the car pulling it out of the mud is a suzuki |

Cheers Zocko, maybe a silly sounding question, but when i use my transfer stick thingy inside the car to go to 4wd mode, do i have to get out and mess with my hubs ? , or will the 4wd still work anyway but these things do something extra ?
I didnt know how to ask that without sounding like a crazy man |

youll need to turn them to the locked position for the 4wd to work. when theyre not in the locked position it allows you to be in 2wd without the extra drag of the front axle and therefore improves your fuel economy slightly _________________ the car in front is a toyota...

wooow.. mhmm how does freewheeling hubs work? Just out of curiosity, do any of you issues with the transfer case. Seems like less wear and tear would happen since you wouldn't be turning all the gearing and stuff...maybe I am just looking at it wrong...any ideas?? I see that WARN makes a set...just curious...

freewheeling hubs lock themselves when power is passed through the front diff. when you engage 4wd, you power the front diff and this activates a screw in the fronr hubs locking them into 4wd. when you disengage 4wd, you need to reverse about 10-12 feet to disengage the hubs completely.
manual are just that, you lock or unlock them at will by turning the locks _________________ the car in front is a toyota...
