My cooling fan is always on even when starting from cold, any one any ideas as to what this might be?

very true,,, check ur wiring...
If its wired with a relay (which it should) then the low current side of the relay should be switched either by a electronic thermostat OR a switch...
If its wired without a relay it will just be a rele simple circuit with a thermostat or switch inline.
If you say its on all the time i would guess someone has wired it off the ignition feed... remove it from the ignition and add your own 12v feed straight from the batt through a electronic thermostat or a switch, job done.
I have a really good wiring diagram if u need it, with different oftions for off the ignition/straight from battery AND electro themostat or switch... pm me if u do
