Hi
My wife has recently become the owner of a Suzuki Vitara Fatboy, and although she loves the look of the car, she is not so keen on the handling
the car bounces along which she can cope with, but the steering is really light and she feels like she is fighting to keep in a straight line.
My Question.
Is there any adjustment on the power steering to make it a bit firmer ?
I I run the tyres at a slightly lower pressure would this help.
Are there any other solutions ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Steve,
Its always difficult to get used to another car, has the car had a recent MOT? if so, suspension and steering should have checked out. you can fit a steering damper to the rack and this will take out a lot of the twicthes etc, you can find them on Ebay and theyr easy to fit, as for the suspension, get the shocks checked out by a specailised, and i dont mean kwick fit or *beep* like that! if they are ok you can still go for different kinds, gas filled, foam filled, softer or harder springs etc, there is plenty of options. Dont lower the tyre pressures, (unless your driving on snow, mud or sand,) this will just use more fuel and wear the tyres faster! |

fat boy's run lower profile tyres than standard so there is less rubber between the wheel and the road, the lack of this can make the ride more harsh
low profile tyres were designed for race cars to improve the handlig but sacrifice the comfort, consider your options for your next set, although the difference wont be night and day it should be noticable |

I also have a fatboy. I adjusted the steering box tension adjustment, removed the low profile tyres and installed 30x9.50 Mud terrains with a minor rear lift and bumper trimming. The handling on and off road has actually improved when compared to the low profile tyres previously installed. But I bought mine withthe full intent of modifying it for a use in trialling. By the way the arches don't like meeting with trees. hope this helps |
