hi,

My mate reversed into my vitara the other day and hit the rear bumper.  As the bracket for the fog light in the rear bumper was so rusty it just fell apart so i need a new one.

ive been told by a few people that you cant get them here as they are all rusted and ruined but ive been told to source them from either japan or spain.

Anyone have any ideas where i can look?  a website would be a great help

Thanks

Hi Techs 10 !  A bit late for me to reply but this might help others.  I recently discovered the same problem on our Vitara 1999 T registration 1.6 hard-top 4u2 where a mounting plate for the bumper fog light completely disintegrated into a pile of rust on the ground. My local independent garage very quickly located a genuine replacement light complete with fixings without a problem and they told me they ordered it directly from Susuki. When the fog light arrived, the mounting plate was much larger and more complicated than I had anticipated. What I thought would be a fairly simple job by the garage took longer than anticipated because the complete bumper had to be removed and the fixing bolts had rusted.  The main point is replacement parts like the fog light and its backing plate are still available but perhaps restricted to people in the trade? I have searched for Susuki parts but haven't found a website where actual owners are able to purchase items directly from Susuki UK or anywhere else. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Buying an old reclaimed fog light would usually means that the backing plate will most likely be almost as rusty as the original. Regards, Mike
