|
|
Hello people,
Got myself a little old Vitara, my mates mum was running it until it needed more work than was economical according to her mechanic, she gave it to my mate who lives on a farm and he stashed it in a corner and forgot about it, he's decided to rent out his farmhouse and move into a smaller place with his new missus and so is selling up stuff that he has laying around. He asked me to see if i could get some money for the Vitara.
I had a look round it and it looked pretty solid and ran lovely, fired up and purred away as soon as we put a charged up battery on it, I'm partial to a 4x4 especially if its cheap so as i reckoned it only needed a few quid spending on it i asked him how much to me, well 100 quid later and the deal was done.
I've since had a good look round it and it needs a front UJ for the rear prop, a couple of 50p sized patches welded on the end of the chassis, a repair on the back bumper and light unit and a couple of bulbs, rear tyres are on the limit but i'll be getting rid of them and fitting off road tyres anyway.
So thats the little trucks story, its not a car i would have chosen had it not been cheap as for a start im 6'6" so me and small cars don't often gel, however my 8 year old daughter loves a soft top and this one has the potential to be fun once i "man it up a bit" I have done some research online and found they can be quite capable off road with a few modifications so i shall be adding it to my list of projects and the poor thing will get violated i expect.
Heres the £100 beast as it stands before any work has been done.
Not much will happen to the old girl untill after xmas, but pretty much everything i own with wheels on it ends up seriously modified so watch this space. |

i will give it a zap over and see what it comes up like, other than a couple of scabby bits it looks in pretty good condition. The plan is to change the colour anyway though eventually, can't decide between camo or bright yellow with Tonka stickers on it. |

I'm quite partial to Nato green with black DPM finnish.... haven't seen one which looks remotely like it could belong in the army and will be my mission when I eventually sort a Vitara out! _________________ Driving a 99' Vitara JX 4U2...

Bought one second hand, and as its designed to come off anyway its very easy to change, unhook the front and undo a few press studs and its off, even the frame is only held on with a few screws.
No post again to day, so still cant go out in is, so i went and pulled a few interior panelks off and decided there is room for all my stereo gear and amps if i make up a couple of panels to mounts speakes in the sides in the back.
My subs wont fit in the back with the rear seats up though, so its lots of bass and only two seats, or the smaller sub, not so much bass and room for the kids. _________________

They're not worth much at the moment, there's a recession on you know!
Might be better to wait a while until the market picks up |
