Hi all,
first time in this club and I wanted to know your thoughts on towing with the Jimny. I know there are many people who do tow with them but I have never thought about doing so as I always saw the Jimny as a small- getting around- offroader but it would seem this is not the case!
My Dad has always been supportive of my 'Suzuki addiction' with both my old cars (which I still have but in the process of selling) both N reg vitaras but my Jimny is the best thing ever and he reckons I could pull a lot with it. It's a 1.3 so obviously, I'm doubtful what you should and shouldn't stick on the back.
Anyone have some suggestions as to the kind of things i should and should defiantly not consider pulling? Dad has a small caravan which he says I can use especially with the dogs so I would love to tow this if this is safe to do so but I'm very cautious! Sad I know but 'Thunder-bug' is just such a supercar and I don't want to break any part of her!!! |

I've seen a video of a Jimny towing a laden articulated lorry on a snowy road. Obviously it was slow, and probably in low-range first gear, but it gives some idea of what can be done. Drive gently and slowly, and you can tow a lot. Pulling away is probably the biggest challenge, and hard on the clutch, so perhaps an auto box would be better.
There are rules in UK for maximum towed weights on public roads. Generally, they enforce the manufacturer's stated limits. See here |
