Hello from Canada's west coast:
I have a L J 80 Van, 1979 with the 800 cc water cooled motor. Was a close clone to my grandmother's lace table cloth when I bought it. Have now rebuilt the body, fenders, and floors. primer and paint left to do.
Question, the 800 motor burns oil at a staggering rate, I have not been able to find any motor parts on the interweb.
It came with a spare motor from a early S J 410 which the vendor said was a good running motor, his fingers must have been crossed behind his back, as I now see it has no timing belt or pulleys, it's missing the distributor as well.
So, can anyone advise me , re using the smaller motors accessories on the 1000 cc motor? Will the cam drive change over? Will the 800 dist fit the newer motor (it faces the opposite side) I am reluctant to start tearing it apart as it still moves under it's own power, and it does keep mosquitos away.
Finally, I would appreciate any connection to legitimate parts vendors that I might buy repair parts from.
Well at least I can ride my 1955 Gold Star, that resets my buttons.
