As soon as I start my 2003 diesel Grand Vitara the red temperature light sometimes comes on yet the temperature gauge reads cold and gradually reads up to normal temp as the engine warms up.  So am I right in saying that the sensor is faulty and if were is it located?  I guess there must be two temperature sensors one for the gauge and one for the light?  Or perhaps there is a wiring fault?  Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
