Hey Guys, I'm new here so please be gentle My son has an SJ410 (myself I'm a Land Rover man but I like the Sammy too) with an overheating problem. Changed the thermostat and cleaned out the engine/rad but no change. I notice that he has a persistent screeching sound which very much sounds like a slipping pulley. On further investigation I noticed that the PO had connected the powersteering via a pulley that now drives the alternator, fan and powersteering. Somehow I feel that the overheating and screeching problems are connected. Should I rig up a separate pulley for the powersteering? Would the present set up lead to the fan belt slipping and leading to the overheating? |

hi there, i had a overheating problem with my daihatsu sportrak years back, it was so bad it had blown the head gasket when i bought it, after trying thermostat flushing etc, i found out it was the viscose fan not comming on, simple test.. run the car until its hot, then VERY carefully touch the fan with a long object, if it stops it, then the coupling is broke, if it keeps going round, its ok. please be very careful doing this |
