|
|
Hello all fellow members,,
I am new to site and Vitara ownership, I have just bought a 2000 Reg Vitara JX 4U 1.6 8v which has a number of problems I need to resolve and need assistance with.
1 Free wheel hubs - they appear to be in the locked position even when the control is aligned with the "free" indicator on the hub, can anyone comment on this and are there any diagrams available for strip down.
2 Both front wishbones are corroded severely and require replacing, anyone know where I can find a pair quickly, I have searched ebay and cannot find anything that matches.
3 I need an O/S rear fog light assembly complete with rubber surround and any fixing brackets.
I am in Scotland and would appreciate any help available.
Thanks

Hi MacKay6124. It is interesting for me to see your post because I am a new member having just purchased a one-previous-owner Vitara 1999 1.6 4U2 which is running well and looking good. Hope your problems have perhaps been resolved. You must be disappointed that no one ever responded to any of your requests for help! No regrets about my recent purchase although a few jobs need to be sorted out and the clutch is a bit rough. I was a bit shocked to discover the backing plate holding the nearside fog light has completely rusted away inside the bumper. A local garage ordered a complete fog light from Susuki (I think direct) so I believe genuine matching replacements are available. I happened to spot that the trade price to him was about £38.60 presumably plus VAT. He has today telephoned to say the package has arrived and the total cost will be about £93 including fixing. Seems a rip-off to me! I am going ahead / booked in next week and can tell you more if you are still around. I also need a replacement high level centre brake light (as fitted to the spoiler) but I am told they are no longer manufactured or available. I haven't looked at the offside bumper fog light yet but expect the fixing plate will be in a similar condition! By the way, my wife was a McKay and she has some MacKay relatives despite living down south. Regards, Mike |
