I have recieved conflicting advice about ratios fitted to my 98' Vitara 4U2 and compatibility or advantage regarding fitting the diffs from a 98' diesel 5 door.

I've been told I have 4.2 ratios in my 4U2 diff as standard and that the diesel is 5.1... my Dad reckons that I should fit them to gear the whole car down making it easier to maintain fuel consumption, lessened because of the 31 MT's I have fitted. Others have told me that fitting the diesel diff will make it worse!

So to help me understand, my current diff, is that 4.2 turns of the rear prop to 1 turn of the hub?? Confused

Also considering fitting a 2 ltr V6 (H20A?) block at some point, I mention incase the word 'under-powered' comes up in any response!  Laughing

Current mods which may help with any response, 2 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift, 31" MT's, diff drop brackets up front.
