Hi - my GV 2.0l petrol has just started to make a groaning / whining noise when I turn right - only right!? - the wheel bearings are fine.

Also, there is a loud screeching noise from the engine when I start it up but only for a second.

My guess, the power steering pump is on its way out (the pully has slight in/out movement when I pull it??) - I've changed the the fan belt but to no avail

Any other ideas please?

Many thanks.

There are quite a few on Fleabay ranging from £30 - £90+

After looking very carefully at the pictures, it appears only the 2.0l pump will fit my GV2000 - not the 1.6 or the 2.5 engine, they seem to have different pulley widths and fitting arrangements.

I found one - £50, that will do for now.

Thanks for the advice though.

Well we all live and learn - it turned out to be worn a brake disc on the right making the squeaking noise when cornering right together with screech coming from the starter motor on start up and not a worn power steering pump, as I thought.

25 years working on cars and these two separate faults, which I thought was one fault had completely caught me out.
