|
|
After driving a while I've found the nearside rear brake locking up, particularly when turning left. Looking inside the hub I've found that the brake has been binding with the drum. New shoes and cylinders just a few weeks ago, mobile mechanic mate fitted them and he 'gravity' bled the line I'm thinking before connecting to new cylinders... Not the way I'd have done it myself, thinking bleeding the rears at the cylinders using the brake pedal compressed would solve the problem? Is there any adjustment can be made at the hubs to back the offending brake off?
99' Vitara 4U2 1.6 standard fitted with Lucas shoes if it helps.
Need to sort this asap before I burn through the new shoes, cause a brake fire or damage my fuel economy any further! _________________ Driving a 99' Vitara JX 4U2...

I would take a closer look at the hand brake cables. I doubt its anything to do with bleeding, as you would have little brake effort if there was air in the system, and the pedal would be rubbish. |

Manage to sort this problem... I called my mechanic back and he admitted after inspection that he didn't set the return springs as they should be... "It was Saturday morning... I'm tired... and... this car isn't like many other cars I've worked on!" yada yada yada! The brake was applying but not releasing. Since my mechanic sorted this all is much better now! _________________ Driving a 99' Vitara JX 4U2...
