Hi There,
I have a 2007 DDIS. The ignition warning light has been coming on and I took it into a local Halfords (that's where my warranty company specify). They did a disgnostic on it and have told me the Turbo Bypass valve is faulty and needs replaced. I've tried googling this and not much comes up. It seems to be all american things. Is this the same as an EGR valve. Halfords are asking for £280 to replace it. Is this okay for what needs done. Apologies - I'm clueless on this stuff.
Thanks for any advice. |

First of all, get a second opinion! Dont trust those spotty faced kids with a scanner. The EGR is a diferent component, but could give the same symptoms.

Hi , I'm new to this site and while browsing I saw your post. I have the same model, recently the engine management light was coming on/off frequently. A brief diagnostic check informed possible glow plugs, replaced, no change. Then light would come on , on start up drive 500 yards, on restart light would stay off all day.
Took vehicle to electro diesel in exeter, no fault found. On a return check the ecu was detecting a two amp drop in electrical system.
Three possibilities suggested; faulty connection to ecu; faulty ecu; the battery. While the battery was ten years old it had given no trouble at all, despite this it was the cheapest option, replaced and ok so far! Replaced with a 'silver'.
Further discussions with other tradesmen has revealed Suzuki along with other manufacturers are narrowing the warning light parameters.
I am not suggesting halfords are incorrect. I use a diesel particulate filter cleaner every 3000 miles( some cleaners are better then others) and after some strenuous and prolonged towing vehicle runs very well. Seriously these Diesel engines are not made for town pootling!
The egr valve is quite easy to check, takes five minutes.
If your are not having perforce problems be aware of those who will readily take your cash. Shop around for the best diagnostic check, try a diesel/electro specialist. I know yours isn't diesel but give them a try.
Hope this helps, happy motoring.
