Just a quick 1, will an Ignis sport engine bolt onto the vitara gearbox? AND still allow for the full 4WD function? I know how good the Ignis engines are and I think that would make a right old weapon if it all worked!

Has it been done? Bell housings the same? Any info will be very appreciated!

Cheers

one small problem:

vit=RWD/4WD
ignis=FWD

therefore much modding required as well as engine loom/ecu etc

The ecu wiring won't be a problem, neither will external fuel pump etc.

What I'm hoping to find out is if the engine will bolt up to the vitara gearbox? I've not been underneath the vit yet so I haven't looked to see what it's like but I can't imagine the engines being far different?

I've not heard anybody say that vitara's are underpowered really, so if the engine conversion is looking grim, I'll just do a few bits to the 8v.

Cheers

to my (admittedly limited) knowledge itwont be a direct bolt up job.

the vitara as far as im aware has the g16a engine, id assume the m15 will be a differend block. i recall seeing someone fitting the engine out of a baleno i think but dont really know the in's an out's of what had to be done.

that said, ive seen a lot of engine/gearbox conversions being done, making a plate and flywheel spacer to join the block to a different series gearbox.

nice little project that  Wink

Thankyou forr the reply! It's a very quiet forum this 1 isn't it! It would be a good project and I know the Ignis engines are very good for torque and power, would be quite a costly project if it all failed so I think I'll just give it a miss.

Cheers

this forum is fine for knowledge that already exists on here

theres a few of us that CAN answer your more technical questions but beqar in mind we do this for free so dont expect an immediate answer.

doubt youll find a more supportive forum though

I wasn't suggesting that due to my thread specifically, just seems like a quiet forum in general. I'm on many forums and I know how they work. I usually join, then see if it's worth contributing or not within a few posts.
Not even had the duty "welcome aboard" sort of reply on my introduction thread!

Saying that, when you look at other forums with hundreds of people, you tend to get more of the general "know it all" bell ends, that don't really know that much at all.

Back on topic, I've not really seen any reviews criticising power, I'm just used to building more powerful, faster cars so naturally, more power is first on the list! Where as maybe i need to concentrate on other things first.

A few pics-

if you do a 2" suspension lift to go with that body lift, i have a lovely set of 31" tyres and 15" rims for sale that will go on it

A friend has got me a set of mud claws lined up on vitara rims for £150. He's gone to kirton for the weekend so I'll not get the chance to have a look til next week now.

What tyres are you selling and how much do you want?

I'm relatively new to off-roading, i'm an ex army driver and have done plenty of off-roading as such on purposely built tracks but I've never done it privately and I know the 2 differ enormously!

I've been told also that the wrong size wheels, and tyres that are too aggressive, will end up ruining diffs? can you shine any light on that for me chaps?

Hello, do you have any more info on the tyres? Pics? What model tyre? Price? Location?

Cheers
