Have you had the tracking checked since straightening the panhard rod etc.
Is the Jimny lifted, springs and/or body lift?
When does it veer, after hitting a bump, pot hole, speed hump etc or just generally?
Mine does it all the time, I wouldn't say "veers" but does tend to follow any 'imperfections' in the road.
I'm no expert, have only recently got my Jim and am still learning.

I am new to Jimny driving too. Mine does not take any notice of ruts or tramlines left by trucks but if I look out of a side window for just a second it has wandered off to the left or right! Not far, but just enough to remind me to pay attention. I watched closely and it does wander a bit, but I naturally correct it without thinking, unless of course I am looking out of a side window! New tyres today so we will see if that helps at all. It certainly rides better on new tyres. That could be because the old ones were the originals fitted in 2005, date coded 2004! Still plenty of tread, but sidewalls cracking. Obviously my Jimny has had an easy life. 37k miles and squeaky clean underneath. I am sure that will soon change!! |

I have a 2000 Jimny with 60000 miles on the clock, it had the standard tyres on it when I bought it, have to say the drive back from Norfork to Northampton was very interesting, the car was tramlining badly and needed constant correction, have since fitted some large 255/60x16 tyres on big rims and has made no difference. Just had a full MOT and the garage said the steeing and suspension were fine so I just put it down to a very short wheel base. My old SJ did exactly the same on bumpy roads. to be honest I have just got used to it now, although sometime it freeks my passemgers out |
