URGENT appeal for experienced 4x4 drivers in Sussex
Do you live in Sussex? Are you the owner of a 4x4 vehicle? Are you an experienced 4x4 driver with some time available this weekend? If so, you may be able to help local people in need!
In this severe weather, the emergency and health services have enough 4x4s for essential services, like responding to 999 calls and getting people to hospital. However, they’re looking for volunteers with 4x4 or off-road vehicles who can help them carry out important community work.
You could deliver Meals on Wheels to inaccessible areas, take people with minor injuries home from hospital to free beds or provide vital home health visits to elderly or vulnerable local people.
Please do your bit for the community and offer help by calling Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting incident number 885 of 8 January.
The police are collecting offers on behalf of all local agencies, so you must be happy for your details to be passed to other organisations such as councils and health services. If your availability and location matches a local need, the relevant agency will contact you to arrange the details.

it really cheeses me off that all year people are 4x4 bashing, saying they are killing the planet and similar carp then when the roads get a little tricky the come begging for help........  |

I think people started to change their minds last year when they saw 4x4's as the heroes. There is nothing wrong with a bit of good publicity to help the cause, especially when you have people like the snowdon guy giving us a bad name.
