I knew I shouldn't have bothered as I wasn't confident, but since I've had my Samurai it's had a leaky windscreen which is down to the rubber being torn and it's been bothering me.
I got hold of a new rubber but have been putting off changing it because I was scared of breaking the glass.

This afternoon I decided to attempt it for some reason. All was going well until I pulled a bit of the torn rubber as we eased the screen out.
Next thing the screen split from top to bottom  Shocked

I was gutted, but managed to get the new rubber around the screen even though it's in two halfs, and then fit it again.

It's a right pain as it'll now fail it's MOT and probably still leak, maybe even worse than it did  Crying or Very sad

Guess I'll be looking for a new windscreen next week and then having to go through changing it again  Rolling Eyes

Check your insurance most polices these days cover windscreens, I cracked mine in the cold snap, had a new one fitted the next day by Auto Glass for £50 wind screen excess.

hi. i had to take my vitara in today to have a new screen fitted, and while this may not apply to yours i thought id mention it just  incase,  mine was done on the insurance through auto glass, but going back a few weeks i read on a forum somewhere that the vitara (mines a 93 reg) had to  have a suzuki windscreen as other brands wouldnt fit right, so when i went to the garage i asked the guy if it was the right one and he said " it was pilkintons" (or something.lol) which is what auto glass supplied, how ever when i told him my concerns due to what i'd read in the forum, i was basically dismissed by two guys (who can fit upto 10 of these screens aday!!) and also the guy on the phone from auto glass agreed and i was more or less told to go and paint my nails or something as i was only a silly woman, however when i went back to get her,the guy said I was right, the screen they had was a tight fit and he fully expected it to start leaking at some point and when it did i was to go back and he would make sure i got a suzuki screen, he explained that due to the age of my vitara, the insurance company wouldnt pay the extra for the proper screen. he did say sorry to me and said he'd learnt something new .  i know this may not be the same in your case but if im honest it does give me "the little woman" another chance to be smug!!! On a lot of car forums the girls like to hide their sex, you get a lot of cavemen on some forums, possibly this forum is a bit easier on ladies what with the Vitaras being a favourite of so many women, I got ribbed by my mates when i first got mine and told it was a girls car, not that i care what other people think really, im a big lad. Very Happy
