|
|
I'm new to all this so I don't even know if iv'e posted this properly ha!
Recently saw a vitara with what looked like a twin headlight conversion (two circular sections over each light) and thought it looked quite good!
Anyone have any ideas as to where i could pick one up or make one myself?
Thanks! |

you can get stickers to fake the look, they look like twin lights at a glance but look really naff as soon as you realise they are fake, cant do much for the beam pattern either. _________________

capri lights are rubbish, they only have two main beam lamps and two dip beam, if your looking at older style lights Triumph dolomite/2000/2500 ones are better, 2 dip beam and 4 mains and as they are lucas lamps they are a standard fit rather than keyed to fit the Ford mounts.
More modern ones that will do the job but still cheap in a scrappy would be the lamps out of an XJ40, they work really well, very bright in use, designed to cope with 150mph car.
wiring is easy, just use your existing wires to power the outside pair which will be dip and main beam, and use a spotlight wiring kit to power the inner pair as they only come on with main beam you are effectively fitting built in spotlights. _________________

in a word yes
but you have to watch the beam pattern and angle etc
if you decide to go ahead, why not post up some pocs and show us all how you get on? _________________ the car in front is a toyota...

I have done this conversion on various cars over the years, you'll find the twin lights are wider than the stock ones so the grill will need cutting down or you could move the lights further outwards and move the indicators.
Just as an example if you look at this pic of an old Cortina of mine halfway through its mods you can see the difference that was on this one, the top slat on the grill was standard width, the rest were cut down, the difference is how much wider the twin lights were compared to the rectangular ones on this particular car, I think the Vit will be similar.

great pic! looks top!
i was thinking that might be the case and i was also going to do a little mod on the grill so that could be a part of that. I was thinking of doing a debadged grill, ie remove the middle section the use filler and other bonding methods to join sections out or a spare, together with the lights i think it will look quite retro! |
