I know there's not a lot of point of having a snorkel on a petrol engine but I want one so I'm going to make my own.
I haven't found one to fit the v6 either .
Anyhow I'm stuck with the decision of whether to make it from steel tubing (which won't be a prob as I'm a fabricator) or to make it from 50mm black plumbing pipe which I think will look facilities but be easy to do.
What do we think guys ?
Cheers

Hello Lloyd,
I've got a petrol engined Samurai and have found the snorkel I fitted very useful when off roading.
I made mine out of steel tube.
It's not the best picture ever, but I think you can make out what I've done with it.

i know people say petrol engines and water are a no no, but rally car engines are made water proof without any issues you just need to be thourough, back in the early 80's one of our mk2 escorts ended up on it side in a water filled ditch and it carried on running, the water was about 2" below the side draught carbs inlet trumpets while the rest of the engine was completely underwater. |

Hi Alan
That looks exactly like what I'm going to make and the pic helps
I'm going to use a sealed canister filter a bit like a cda canister so should work well
thinking back my old 72 beetle had extensions on the deck hinges to let the heat out from the alfa egine I fitted and it used to get soaked in the rain and filled with snow a couple of times but had no problems
