Hi,

my car is putting out some black smoke..not huge clouds but rev it up when very hot and black smoke pours forth.......smells terrible when starting as well......smoking when accelerating.  its a 97/98 model. Stuck my finger in the exhaust after a long run and the said finger was covered in black soot. Maybe I am burning the wrong sort of coal Smile
It has a very clean looking airfilter.

Apart from that its a great car......i had it about 3 weeks now and loving it.

I am goint to bung some Forte cleaner i

Any ideas??

NICK

Thanks for the reply,
I have decided to get it fully serviced and the cleaner will be added in part direct into the new fuel filter.  It has had a new head gasket fitted just before I bought it. Luckily I know most of the history of this Vitara. It has only done 80.000 miles but has had a replacement engine fitted (a Japanese import engine). So the mileage of the replacement engine is unknown to me.

I only called into the garage to see if they guy there had a cheap car radio for my van and came away with a car  Very Happy
