Posted: Tue Sep 28, 2010 21:01 Post subject: Second alternator wiring? |
|
|
I was thinking of adding a second alternator to my vit to give me some more charge for my winches...
I was also thinking of adding another battery?
So... i need help with the wiring.
If i added a second battery would i just wire it in parallelwith the existing battery??
The would i just splice the second alternators wiring into the existing??
Please help!!
Thankyou. _________________ Vitara JLX 1.6

The way it is commonly done is mounted ontop of the power steering pump (if fitted) as there is a threaded hole or two in the top of its bracket and then theres also a threaded hole in the side of the engine block that you can also pick up on. You then remove the v belt round the power sterring pump and main crank and put a longer v belt round all 3. the v belts can be bought really easily at and motor parts centers but the harder bit is making up the brackets to moun the alternator and getting it to line up perfectly with the other two pulleys. Hope this helps... _________________ Vitara JLX 1.6

Hey zocko. Yeah it was me that originally asked about wiring for the second alternator and now that I have the knowledge I'm passing it on!
