engine revs when lights are on

Hi i have a sj413 the engine run fine when the lights are off. then when you need lights the engine will rev up to 3000rpm
then when the lights are off it will idel at 1000rpm and when the heater fan is on that makes it rev to thanks james

its supposed to increase the revs to counter the load the alternator puts on the engine and stop it cutting out but that seems a little excessive.

you need to find someone who can vacuum test your valves on the carb and maybe make the right adjustments?
