Hi... looks like a nice club... Hopefully someone can help me out... Very Happy

I have a 2001 2.0TD Grand Vitara and have never had problems with it until this evening... I went out to help a mate whose car wouldn't start, so jump started his car and my Vitara cut out.. Odd I thought but started her up and started driving home... anyway about a mile into the journey engine management light came on, it spluttered and cut out. After 20 minutes it would start again and I could drive for about a KM before it would splutter and cut out, left it for 10 mins and it would start, drive for about 1KM and cut out again. This kept repeating but fortunatly I was only a few miles from home so got home....

Sorry for the long thread but any idea what it might be? Checked fuses and they appear to be ok.. could it be the primary fuel pump? How would I get at it?

Thanks for any help in advance

Lar

Hi there
Sounds exactly like my other halfs car (grand vitara 2.0 tdi), we took it to the garage and found that no fuel was being pumped through so the fuel tank was checked an it was empty even though the fuel gauge said it was half full, so faulty fuel gauge which is located on the fuel tank and is attached to the fuel tank so you have to change the lot, or just get into a routine of filling her up every week.
hope this helps
