Hi, I'm new to the forum and am having problems with my w reg vitara, it's 1.6 8v, found out recently After driving over a 15 mile motorway run it feels like it's running out of petrol. I can have my foot on the accelerator at 70 mph and then it feels like i take it off and put it back on constantly on off on off then looses alot of power, can slow me down to 40mph. If I stop at a garage, turn the ignition off and on, sometimes it can be fine but only for another mile or so, and if I stop the car out of gear and rev to the floor when this happens it reaches about 2000rpm then dies then kicks back in again and so on and so forth, ihave changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm, could anyone please help me out as I'm not sure what the problem is, many thanks,
rob!!!

Ask a garage to check the emissions with the sniffer for the mot to see if its running too rich......could possibly be the auto choke playing up......which I've heard is a bit of a common occurance......

Hi I will try the autochoke as it does rev high sometimes, and think I'll be looking at the fuel filter- is this easy to get too and should it be replaced or just cleaned?! I will try these options first as you all say I need to eliminate the small possibilities 1st, thanks!?
