PLEASE PLEASE can someone help .   have a 1998 vitara 1.6 4u soft top..  since i bought the car tickover has been erratic . when you pull up at junctions etc the revs will be high about 1500 to 1800  then  they drop to about 1000  some days are worse than others.  as i rev or pull away the car seems to hesitate as if it is missfiring.   I have just put the car in for MOT and it failed on (7.3.D.2b) exhaust emissions LAMBDA reading after seccond fast idle outside specified limits.  i think the back part of the exhaust may be missing. it comes over the back axle but not alway to back of car.   also there is no air filter in the air box.!!!!     The car also seems to be really heavy on petrol..!!!!!!

I will be realy greatfull if some one can help as this is my only transport and i cant afford to buy another car

if you havent had a filter in there you may find you AFM is coated with dust which means thats now buggered as you cant really clean them properly also along with your throttle body being full of dust blocking the tiny air idle ports...
