I am having a problem with overheating in my Vit. A friend suggested I may need to replace the fan, as when the car is hot, it is very easy to turn the fan.

Is this right? Will this sort my problem?

It's just too hot to have the heater on full !!  Embarassed

do NOT do this, its the easiest way of ruining a thermostat.

you should put it into cold water and gently bring it to the boil and watch to make sure it opes just before it boils

Also Lucy I know this may be obvious, but have you checked that the radiator isn't covered in mud?

Everytime I go off roading in my SJ it ends up running really hot (closed to overheating) on the way home due to the radiator being caked in mud and wet grass.
I have to wash it all out and then it's fine again.

Yeah, the rad is clean. I will get the thermostat off at the weekend, and test it.
Thanks for the advice!
