Hi everyone,

I've just noticed that when it's raining or I wash my SJ, I get gallons of water running out from the behind the heater.
This water is getting in from the vent at the bottom of the windscreen.
It runs into a plastic container that then is supposed to channel the water out of two rubber pipes which exit through the bulk head into the engine bay.

It looks like the container is part of the heater housing. Does anybody know if there's a reason it may leak or if it is part of the heater housing?

I've checked both rubber pipes that direct the water out, and they're both attached. I've checked that the clips that hold the container closed are all fastened, and they seem to be. The water seems to be coming from higher up.

I'll probably end up with the dash out anyway to fix the problem, but anything anyone might know about it may be helpful to me and I'd grateful to hear it.

Hello mate,

Yeah I checked and they're totally clean as was the whole heater assembly. I think someone has been messing around with it, possibly cleaning it when it was blocked up with *beep*. It has one of the little rubber pipes missing that direct the water that flows into the heater from the grill in front of the windscreen, out under the bonnet, so that all the water empties into the drivers footwell  Shocked
Also the heater separates and is held together with clips a bit like an airfilter box, some of them clips are missing so any water that doesn't make it out of the hole into the footwell, flows out of where it should be held together and flows down both footwells  Shocked   Shocked

I will replace the heater before next winter  Wink
