Hello all. I am building an amphibious vehicle based on a Vitara. Donor vehicle was a 1994 lwb 5 door wagon, 1600 16v engine. I have built an entirely new chassis, and am now in the process of building the hull around it.
What I need to know, in order to comply with eventual sva test is the max design weights that the axles can accomodate. The vin plate from the donor vehicle gives Gross weight of 1650kg ( top line on vin plate ) Gross train weight 3150kg ( 2nd line ) Front axle max weight 750kg ( 3rd line ) Rear axle max weight 1000kg ( 4th line )
Does any one have a Vitara diesel of similar year, that the could give me the weights from their vin plate, and can any one confirm that the diesel uses the same axles as the petrol model.
Thanks in advance for any help, and if enough interest is shown in this project I will try and post some pictures as it progresses.
Regards John

I not sure but might be worth having a chat with these guys as they may be able to help even beef up the axles a bit more http://www.offroad-armoury.com/ .

Some one else on here might be along soon to help with the weight compasion to another vit Very Happy
