Hi

I've had a comment directed towards me regarding the durability of the diff. Being referred to as chocolate diff, so I'm trying to do a bit of research on the subject. I'm new to the off roading game and the vitara is our first vehicle for this purpose.

I have been told about a steel diff upgrade or something along those lines but thought I would try and extract some info from the ppl in the know.

Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated as it is a hobby I intend to pursue

If it was a Land Rover owner that directed the comment the proper retort was to ask about the tin foil half shafts on his chosen marque  Very Happy

Is there any truth in his remark?

I have never heard that expression in relation to a vit diff, I always thought the weakest bit of a bit of the vitara drive train was the gear box (not that weak IMO)
I could of course be wildly off the mark and completely wrong  Embarassed
